But the heart of Hi-Pro’s success lies in its amazing team. Dedicated, skilled, and customer-focused, the team brings each project to life with meticulous attention to detail and a commitment to excellence. From embroidery and digital printing to awards and promotional products, their expertise ensures every order reflects the quality and care Hi-Pro is known for. Hi-Pro has cultivated an environment where innovation thrives, teamwork shines, and customers are treated like family.
The story of Hi-Pro is one of resilience and evolution. It began in 1989 when Don Kelly and Dennis Miller acquired the struggling Dees Sportswear, a small business focused on making jackets for local schools. They rebranded as Hi-Pro Sportswear and quickly became the go-to provider of melton leather jackets for schools across the valley.
In 1991, Kelly and Miller expanded into other types of fabric jackets and invested in their first six-head embroidery machine to meet rising demand. By the early 2000s, shifting markets brought challenges, such as the rise of overseas manufacturing. In response, Hi-Pro pivoted, ceasing in-house jacket production and moving to its current location on Coldstream Avenue, beside Fishers Hardware.
Over the years, Hi-Pro diversified, branching out into forestry, schools, and promotional products. The company became a trusted supplier for major industry players such as Tolko, West Fraser, Canfor, Mt.Milligan and many more. By the mid-1990s, Hi-Pro had also introduced awards and employee recognition programs, cementing its reputation as a full-service branding solution provider.
In 2007, Kelly and Miller passed the torch to Bob Sattler, who weathered the challenges of a major recession just a year later. Determined to succeed, Sattler diversified the company’s offerings, introducing screen printing, digital printing, digital transfer printing, and vinyl lettering for jerseys. Bob’s passing marked the end of an era, but his legacy lives on in the company he helped build and the innovations he championed
Today, under Angie Ioakimidou’s leadership and with the support of an extraordinary team, Hi-Pro Branded Solutions is thriving more than ever. Together, they are committed to delivering exceptional quality and service, ensuring Hi-Pro remains a proud and integral part of the North Okanagan community.
